Just two years after getting his degree in architecture from Milan Politecnico in 1984, Massimo Castagna began his climb to prominence in Italian design, founding the studio AD Architettura. He soon made impact designing projects like the “Pyramid” laboratory, a gleaming technological and artistic marvel created for high altitude research, installed in 1990 on the Nepali side of Mount Everest, more than 3 miles above sea level. As a designer and artistic director, his statement-making pieces continue to break traditional bounds and expectations and can be found in the collections of many of Italy’s finest design houses. These are a few of our favorites that you can find at Casa Design Group.
Gallotti&Radice’s Bolle Suspended Lamp is a striking juxtaposition of straight lines and sparkling blown glass spheres. The hand-burnished brass finish reflects natural variations and irregularities, making each piece unique. Available in two sizes, with four or six spheres.
Light Ring Horizontal Suspension
Designed for Henge, these gleaming circular rings add a warm glow thanks to energy-efficient LED lighting. Hanging from strong suspension cables (available in hand-burnished brass and black steel), the rings can be combined in a variety of ways to create bespoke lighting designs for any interior.
The Haumea Coffee Table, designed for Gallotti&Radice, comes in different heights and sizes, with two working beautifully as a pair. The top is extra-light tempered glass, with a base in black open-pore or rust-lacquered wood. Metal details are available in black or bright, hand-burnished, or coppered brass.
Gallotti&Radice’s Audrey Sofa is a slim wedge of style and comfort, thanks to features like non-deformable foam polyurethane and an internal wood structure that creates a soft, invitingly organic profile. Available in leather or fabric, with decorative cushions, on request.
Henge’s S Penny Table is a sculptural masterpiece, handcrafted using traditional techniques and the finest materials. The internal structure is steel, with a casing of pure 99.9% silver on brass, burnished by hand using traditional techniques, the result of an exclusive Henge recipe. The top is black lacquered wood with a marble or granite finish.
Sleek and sinuous, Henge’s Tape Light features warm, energy-saving LED illumination, with transformers in the ceiling rosette providing low voltage power to the rings. Available in a variety of sizes, in single or pair configurations, to create your own bespoke lighting statement.
