Nanimarquina’s renowned carpet designs have graced our Casa Design blog several times in the past years, most recently in January when we featured their Rabari Collection. This time, we’re featuring two rugs, born of a remarkable collaboration between Nanimarquina and Neri & Hu.
Nanimarquina Benefits from Neri & Hu Special Collaboration
Neri & Hu is a Shanghai-based design and research firm. They presented their vision of “the future home,” which they titled Das Haus and presented at the recent Imm Cologne trade fair. While many of the furnishings and fixtures displayed in the exhibit were designed in previous years, two of the rugs – Blue Ceramic and Blue Ink– were designed especially for the exhibit in collaboration with Nanimarquina.
Both rugs were manufactured using 100% New Zealand Wool and are embellished with dark ink images and patterns, reminiscent of old-world images, calligraphy and textures. Each of the rugs used two different, traditional rug making techniques – hand-tufting and hand-knotting – for more textured diversity.
Neru & Hu also used members of the Losanges Collection in Das Haus. Losanges is another member of the Nanimarquina family and was awarded the Elle Decoration International Design Award back in 2012. They are reinterpreted versions of the classic Persian Rug.
