“If there is a place in the whole wide world where the pleasure of living outdoors is especially savoured, that is the Mediterranean.” With that introduction, Elle Décor recently offered readers a look into their small but dazzling exhibition, All’Aperto (“Outdoors”), held in Milan this past April at a spectacular, Baroque palace, the Palazzo Litta.
A celebration of nature and sustainability, the show was designed by Milan design agency Studiopepe and landscape architect Marco Bay. The exhibition’s unifying thread of nature paid tribute to the landscapes of Lombardy and its fountains, lakes, ponds, and streams, and portrayed slices of daily life on patios and porches and in gardens. A variety of prominent Italian and international brands were on display, including Expormim, a Spanish leader in wicker furnishings since 1960.
Expormim’s four different collections all illustrated the brand’s signature style: outdoor spaces so comfortable and elegant they could be transferred indoors and still work aesthetically and functionally.
Three Expormim pieces we offer at Casa Design were featured in the exhibition, each exemplifying the brand’s modern sensibility. The Plump sofa, with its simple lines and easy modularity, adds structure and style and complements any kind of background, while the Nido armchair, with its unique braided rope patterns, brings a touch of the Mediterranean to any setting. And the Grada side table’s marble top seems to float atop the spare, stainless steel legs, lending a subtle touch of artisanal elegance and texture as well as practicality.
