We are still reflecting on the great times we had while attending the ICFF a few weekends ago. While there, we had the distinct pleasure of having dinner with Dirk Wynants of Extremis!
Dirk describes Extremis, the company that he started in Belgium as “more than just a line of furniture – it’s a way of life.” The furniture produced by Extremis is quite exceptional! With stylish and design conscious products, it is easy to see the line’s mission of bringing people together to live life to the fullest.
One unique detail about Dirk that we found incredibly endearing and must share with you is that he rode a bicycle to meet us at dinner! Just imagine, this tall European “tourist” with his little map of Manhattan navigating the cities busy street on two wheels. In a culture of technology and convenience this was a refreshing throwback. Dirk was living his personal philosophy of sustainability and reminded us to take the time to appreciate the view.
We enjoyed an amazing dinner with Dirk in the East Village at the most adorable restaurant, Little Giant. This restaurant features market fresh produce in their creations of “refined comfort food” – think traditional meals with unique spins, such as an organic burger with a potato bun, for example. The next time you plan a trip to New York City, you must try Little Giant!
