It’s nearly impossible to cover everything seen at this year’s 2015 Salone del Mobile in Milan. All we can do is post highlights from some of our favorite designers. One standout was Porada’s Fifteen Collection, which has broken a bit from the modern “norm” by using warm and beautifully grained woods.
Porada’s Fifteen Collection: A Mix Between Tradition and Creativity
Since modern furniture designers always push their limits, optimizing new materials and ideas, Porada made quite an impression with their Fifteen collection, which predominantly features furniture made from Calnetta Walnut. The company says this latest collection was designed to yield “contemporary aesthetics born from the perfect mix between tradition and creativity”.
Many of the pieces are inspired by iconic mid-century furniture lines, and Fifteen features other materials that enhance the elegance of 1950’s motifs, like marble, leather and velvet. A prime example of the warm and masculine presence imbued by Fifteen is the Diagonal Sideboard, which has a black-lacquered frame and legs mixed with an asymmetric face.
Don’t think the entire line has gone traditionally modern on us, though. The Infinity Dining Table is a decidedly modern “twist”, using swirling lengths of walnut or ash with a tempered glass top.
