Marble & Ceramic: 2015 Trends Via the Salone del Mobile
This year, there were several trends we picked up on. For example, last year’s emphasis on blue is continued but with the addition of burgundy color accents as well. Metallic accents aren’t going away anytime soon, and furnishings are getting smarter than ever with the addition of embedded technology. Ultimately, we were struck by the prevalence of marble and ceramic accents featured in classic applications.
Luxurious Calcutta and Carrara marble slabs were expressed frequently in kitchen, coffee and end table designs – particularly in combination with other natural design materials, like wood and metal. An example of this is Greeny, a new versatile table, designed by Gino Carollo for Bonaldo.
As an alternative to natural stone, designers are no longer bashful about using artistically engineered ceramic alternatives, which are more durable and significantly lower-maintenance than their more delicate marble counterparts. Ceramic is relatively impervious to serious scratching, chipping, staining or chemical etching.
