Italian contemporary furniture designer Molteni & C recently celebrated 80 years in the business. This is no easy feat. To celebrate, the company hosted the exhibit 80! Molteni, exhibiting eight decades of high-quality furniture design. You can visit the exhibition in person, featuring iconic Molteni & C pieces throughout the decades, at the Galleria d’Arte Moderna in the Villa Reale in via Palestro.
Celebrate Eight Decades of Modern Furniture Design at 80! Molteni
The artisan firm Molteni & C was founded by Angelo and Giuseppina Molteni and their success was charted early on. Each decade, the company focused on new angles. In the 30s and 40s, their focus was on industrial furniture design using artisan skills. In the 50s, they branched into residential designs with a focus on bedroom furniture. This set them apart as an industry leader.
For the next several decades, Molteni & C continued to expand, becoming one of Italy’s largest designers and manufacturers of both contract and home furnishings. In 1990, the company concentrated on moving their brand overseas, expanding first into the rest of Europe, Africa, Asia and – finally – America. Molteni & C has worked with some of the most well-known designers in the industry.
Currently, the company has branched out into four separate companies:
Molteni & C, specializing in home furniture; Dada, specializing in kitchen designs; Unifor, specialzing in office furniture and Citterio, which focuses on office furniture and partition walls.
Casa Design is excited to announce that very soon you can visit Molteni showroom in Boston! Casa Design’s new showroom will display only Molteni furniture and will be opening this spring in May. Stay up to date on more details about the new showroom with Casa blog.
