Meet Rabari: Inspired By and Hand-Crafted In India
Rabari is actually a collection of three different carpets, all inspired by, and hand-crafted in, India, a world leader when it comes to gorgeous textiles. The carpets were designed by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien and their patterns were influenced by the process witnessed by Doshi in her aunt’s embroidery shop in Ahmedabad. “We wanted our collection for Nani Marquina to reference the unfinished embroideries like studies of different techniques in progress, as they gradually emerge over time.
Nanimarquina has been a world renowned designer of top-quality and artistic rugs for almost 30 years. The company was born upon the wish of its Spain-based founder and namesake, Nani Marquina, “I wanted to design special, visually surprising rugs for people to enjoy.” Since then, the company has garnered multiple awards for both their designer rugs as well as their globally-conscious approach in regards to both fabrication and community involvement.
