The Casa Design Showroom has added new lighting from Shakúff. The artists at Shakúff are interested in creating contemporary lighting fixtures that are also imaginative. Their goal is to push the boundaries of light, color and texture. In addition to their own designs, the Shakúff enjoys working with clients to bring their ideas to fruition.

Windfall Contemporary Crystal Lighting is known worldwide for their innovative takes on a classic lighting element – the chandelier. Using the traditional medium of crystal, artists Roel Haagmans and Clarissa Dorn create contemporary lighting that is both unique and relevant for modern homes and businesses. They have stripped the idea of the heavy, dripping chandelier; re-engineering the vision into fixtures that are ethereal and airy.

To celebrate the opening of the new Casa Outdoor showroom, we had a launch party last Thursday evening on October 17.  Attendees included individuals from other design firms and personal guests of Casa Design. Guests enjoyed beautiful art, exquisite furniture and of course, tasty food and drinks.

It seems like wherever one looks in the world of modern lighting design, the word Flosis somewhere in the fine print. Casa Design has the honor of representing Flos fixtures in our showroom and now there is a new wall lamp in the collection.

Andreu World America has been a global leader in designer furniture since 1955. They got their start in Spain, and have since developed a world-wide presence throughout Europe, eastern countries, Australia and the U.S. The company is known for a combination of innovative designs, paired with high-tech manufacturing and production techniques.

Have a unique space you need to illuminate? Contemporary lighting fixtures are springing up in triangular forms. Made to fit flush into corners, or create striking geometric patterns, there has been an influx of triangular lighting fixtures from top lighting designers.

Casa Design would like to congratulate contemporary furnishings designer, Extremis, on their 2013 AZ Awards for Best Furniture Design. Extremis is a Belgian firm, and we have had the pleasure of representing them in our showroom, most recently in our new Casa Outdoor showroom.

Our New England falls are something to behold. Warm days and crisp nights are the perfect time to enjoy outdoor living. Of course, Casa Design believes the key to comfortable outdoor living is stylish, modern outdoor furniture, not the least of which is a contemporary twist on the traditional porch swing.

We can’t help but have a fond place in our hearts for Foscarini, they were part of what drew the attention of The Best of Boston Home our way. However, even without the honor of “Best Lighting,” we appreciate the artistry and whimsy found in Foscarini’s contemporary lighting fixtures. The Rituals collection, designed by L+R Palomba is exemplary of these two traits.

One of the most trying things about attending trade shows is waiting for irresistible products to become available on the market. AIM is a new lamp designed by French lighting designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for Flos. It has been well worth the wait.

At the Casa Outdoor showroom, we want to make sure our clients have access to the latest products. Here are some of the modern outdoor furniture pieces we’ve added in time for summer projects.

If in the market for outdoor contract furniture, The Kettal Group‘s new 2013 collections are suitable for modern and contemporary outdoor spaces.

Now that summer is almost here, we decided it was time for Casa Design to open up our own outdoor patio for clients and guests. The team here at Casa Design is excited to open Casa Outdoor in July. Casa Outdoor will be located directly across the street from our current showroom at 450 Harrison Ave.

Are you tired of finding the perfect furniture for your commercial clients, only to realize it doesn’t meet their strict local commercial fire codes? Or maybe your clients’ tastes run a little outside the normal and it’s impossible to find quality designer pieces that meet commercial fire code regulations. If those scenarios sound familiar, you’ll be pleased to hear that Casa Design has received CAL 133 certification for SPhaus Italy!

For the past year, we’ve had the pleasure of working with so many wonderful Boston interior designers. We have seen your projects and heard stories about the leaps you have made in innovation. We know how hard you all work and this is why we’re delighted to invite all our favorite designers to enter their submissions for the ASID Design Awards 2013.

One of our favorite outdoor furniture lines is celebrating its 18th birthday soon and will be marking the occasion in a big way. Extremis is celebrating by creating a new version of the Marina table and will be revealing the new version of this picnic table at the Biennale INTERIEIUR 2012 in Belgium in October.

Today we wanted to share with you about our latest Arclinea kitchen install. This project was a collaboration between Bunker Workshop, an interior architecture firm based out of Charlestown, and Casa Design’s Arclinea Project Manager, Shelley Cates.

NeoCon 2012, one of the largest contract furniture trade shows in North American, recently took place at the Chicago Merchandise Mart. The 23rd annual Best of NeoCon Awards Program took place as a part of the show and we were delighted to see a few of the manufacturers we represent here at Casa Design to receive honors in the program.

Attention designers! Italian furniture company Porada has recently announced its “Porada Furniture Design Award 2012,” an international design ideas competition through which Porada is looking to find innovative design concepts for a living area in which wood is a prevalent design element and a collection is presented that embodies “the values and the identity of Porada production.”

When you hear the term “beehive,” what comes to mind? A hairstyle from decades ago, or perhaps honey bees? Most likely, a lighting fixture doesn’t cross your mind, but one of the newer Foscarini lamps is changing what we see when we think of a beehive.

We often place the spotlight on designers in the Boston area with whom we have had the honor of collaborating with, or hope to collaborate with in the future, and today we would like to draw your attention to our friends Amanda Hark and Jeff Osborne of Hark + Osborne Interior Design, where the duo serve as principals of the firm.
